I’m Gustavo Duenas. I’ve been involved in art, drawing, and painting for as long as I can remember, so I’ve been an artist my whole life!
As a paint artist, I explored various artistic ‘isms’ over the years: realism, surrealism, dadaism, modernism, cubism, among others.
Along the way, I earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing and advertising. I worked in ad agencies, where I eventually added graphic design to the mix.
Throughout my career, creativity has always been at the core of everything I do.
Determined to fully pursue what I love most in life: my art, my journey as a children’s book illustrator began with a pretty unexpected twist.
Back then, I had several illustrations up on my online portfolio (and nope, they weren’t for children’s books). But one of them caught the attention of a publisher.
They reached out and offered me the chance to illustrate a children’s book. I accepted the challenge, and ever since then, that’s what I’ve been doing.
And honestly? I love it!
